The California Strategic Growth Council (SGC) is a 10-member council comprised of seven state agencies and three public members with the mission to build healthy, thriving, and resilient communities for all. Funded through California’s Cap and Trade system and the California General Fund, SGC’s grant programs, strategic initiatives, and interagency coordination focus on multi-benefit and community-centric solutions at the nexus of climate and equity. Since 2008, SGC has invested over $2.8 billion in projects strengthening communities and addressing climate change. Our team represents California’s diverse communities and brings wide-ranging experience from the public and private sector, research and academia, and advocacy. We look forward to meeting you!

Student Assistant – Email Marketing

Working under the supervision of the Communications Officer, produce email marketing campaigns including two monthly e-newsletters in email marketing software; design graphics using Canva; create email lists or audience segments and help keep them organized; manage and build overall email marketing strategy and calendars; develop and present weekly reports on analytics and recommend improvements to email marketing tactics. SGC is housed within the Governor’s Office of Planning and Research (OPR). In this role, your creativity and organizational skills will help strengthen OPR's relationships with communities and partners. Student Assistant will work about 20 hours per week and may work from home / remotely anywhere in California.

Student Assistant – Digital Communications/Social Media

Working in close coordination with Communications Officer, draft concise text for social media posts; help keep social media content production on schedule and organized; develop social media campaigns and use software for automated posting; create social media toolkits using Notion; track and report on posts’ performance monthly; suggest updates to social media tactics; copyedit or draft content for blogs; create and design social media templates and graphics using Canva. SGC is housed within the Governor’s Office of Planning and Research (OPR).
